Founders of Ubisoft raising their stake in the company to prevent a Vivendi takeover.

The Guillemot family has increased their stake in Ubisoft to increase their efforts to hold off a takeover by another French mass media company Vivendi. Vivendi has currently got a stake of 27% in the company. Ubisoft has been trying to avoid this takeover and this has led to the founding family to increase their share of the company to 13.6% to attempt to prevent a hostile takeover.

Vivendi at one point owned Blizzard and has been trying to re-enter the games industry. They have businesses in all kind of media industries including music, television, film, video hosting and videogames. This looks like it will be a part of the news for the next year or two.
